Apple releases Safari, OS X fixes
Apple and Adobe this week released patches for vulnerabilities that could enable attackers to take over a targeted system. Apple updated its Safari browser for four vulnerabilities, including two that were fixed in an earlier iOS update. The Cupertino, Calif. computing giant also released an upgrade to its OS X platforms -- Snow Leopard (10.6) and Lion (10.7) -- to address 36 issues, including a bug in encryption system FileVault that could expose users' passwords in plain text. Adobe, meanwhile, plugged "critical" holes in Shockwave Player, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash Professional.
