Mint Mobile impacted by data breach

Share
BleepingComputer reports that U.S. mobile virtual network operator Mint Mobile had its customers' personal information compromised following a data breach. Included in the exposed information were users' names, phone numbers, and email addresses, as well as their SIM serial numbers, IMEI numbers, and service plan descriptions, said Mint Mobile in breach notification letters. Mint Mobile added that no credit card numbers and passwords were affected by the incident, which has already been resolved. While efforts to strengthen Mint Mobile's systems are already underway, experts have expressed concern that the exposed data could be leveraged by threat actors to facilitate SIM swapping attacks. No further details regarding the breach have been provided but Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile were reported by the Falcon Feeds threat intelligence service in July to allegedly have their data, including the last four digits of credit cards, sold on hacking forums.
