VIDEO: Companies shouldn’t be in position to pay ransomware

Ransomware is a brilliant attack because it hits the sweet spot. "The value of what they're taking away from you is more than what they re asking for,” Zscaler CSO Michael Sutton told SCMagazine.com.

SC's Executive Editor Teri Robinson spoke with Sutton at Black Hat USA 2016 in Las Vegas. He said, companies should never be in the position of deciding whether to pay or not. Instead, companies should backup their files –something he noted they don't routinely do for a number of reasons – and turn to non-static controls, like sandboxing.
