Intel has addressed a vulnerability in its firmware that allows online miscreants to compromise remote management functions in computers made by the company over the last decade.

In its security advisory published on Monday, the company highlights the products affected by the flaw, which include Intel Active Management Technology, Intel Small Business Technology and Intel Standard Manageability. The company urges enterprises to apply the patches as soon as possible.

In addition to affecting some current enterprise Core processors, the vulnerability can also be found on the company’s first-generation of Core processors, which date back to 2008.

If not patched, the Intel Active Management Technology product poses the greatest danger for enterprises as it allows companies to track, manage and secure large groups of connected computers, according to CSO Online
