Application security: Buyers prioritize intuitive user interfaces and compliance support

Discussion Topics

Application security is more important than ever, yet at the same time organizations are asking their developers to address a growing number of threats with smaller teams over larger landscapes.

In many cases, respondents of our August 2024 Cybersecurity Buyer Intelligence survey said that smaller teams are tasked with securing the code of more applications against a larger number of vulnerabilities. With this going on, threat actors are more willing than ever to spot and exploit zero-day vulnerabilities both on individual apps and upstream services.

Not surprisingly, given these circumstances, survey respondents say that when choosing an application security tool, they are looking primarily at security and reliability, followed by a service that can stay on top of emerging threats and new vulnerability reports with prompt updates.

Meanwhile, respondents told us that when they do run things such as penetration tests and scans to sort through their code for possible flaws, the ability to accurately summarize the issue and solutions is greatly appreciated.

Finally, there is the issue of automation. Some respondents said that being able to automate the process of analyzing and updating code is something that they would look to add to their application security platforms going forward.
